Join us December 18th to celebrate the life and legacy of Texas Outlaw Comic Bill Hicks just a few days after what would have been his 54th birthday. The now legendary comedian & music and animal lover is often cited as one of the best, most “necessary” comics ever (Paste Magazine, Telegraph UK, Slate). So it seems only right to throw a bash featuring some of Austin’s best comics and bands, and that said bash will benefit Hicks’ Austin-based Wildlife Foundation.

The evening features two stages of entertainment and live comedy from Hicks fans Chris Tellez (Cap City Comedy, ATX Comedy Hour), Danny Palumbo (Funniest Person in Austin, ATX Uncensored(ish), Bounce House) and Avery Moore (Moontower Comedy, Fun Fun Fun Fest, Betches of Comedy), as well as an early Hicks screening and plenty of live music.

For example, self-described “post sincerity garage-punkers” Sailor Poon live up to the “always crude, never prude” description from The Austin Chronicle with raucous shows and bawdy lyrics that will delight punk rockers and feminists alike. In contrast lies dream wave, psych rockers Lunar Gold, who came to life when These Clouds Are Ghosts’ Jason Morris was inspired to try a different approach to writing, which resulted in “a denser sound that broods and flows forth,” per Austin Music Hall.

Lovers of Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta and Tool (who Hicks famously performed with) will love Another De Sade, who create “their own niche of rock and surrealism to create a beautiful, noisy sound scape with a high energy performance and light show.” Heavy psych, stoner-sludge band Greenbeard bring the “rhythm, soulful vocals, [and] complete command of [their] songs” (

Finally, art-rockers Attic Ted invade the Ballroom with their theatrical punk, putting on what the Chronicle describes as, “a real-time melding of art and noise.” Get there early for a screening of Hicks' comedy special Relentless and stay for the art raffle including a painting of Hicks’ famous American Flag Gag photo. $7 suggested donation gets you in the door and donations of $7 or higher get a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $2 each or 3 for $5. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Bill Hicks Wildlife Foundation.

“I left in love, in laughter, and in truth and wherever truth, love and laughter abide, I am there in spirit.” –Bill Hicks (1994)
