Have the holidays truly arrived in Austin until Trail of Lights takes place? Our guess is probably not. This year, the 53rd annual event transforms Zilker Park into a magical display with over two million colorful lights, plus food trucks, parties, interactive experiences and live music. A variety of performances take place each night, from Alan Haynes, the 512 Four and the West Austin Dance Academy on opening night to Datura, Clickety Cloggers and Here Be Dragons on the last evening. Themed nights also occur throughout the Trail's run, including Heroes Night (Dec 12), Cap City Music Night (Dec 14) and Movie Night (Dec 19). Plus, you'll be able to give back by contributing to the Trail's food drive—bring a canned good on any night you attend to donate to the Central Texas Food Bank. If you've been every year, you're bound to find something new to marvel in at Trail of Lights—and if you haven't been yet, this is the year to start a brand new tradition. Head to the event calendar to plan your trip to the Trail of Lights today!
We have all talked on and off recently about how much fun it would be to go to the Trail of Lights. For some of us, they can not go on the weekends, and others, during the week it might be a "late" night out. The Tuesday, seems to be the best when talking with different folks who have family committments, others with work committements... etc..
I am hoping that many of you will be wiling to come out.. We can spend the night walking around the tree.. "spinning" under the Zilker.. Tree... and then walking the Trail of lights...
Please add your friends and lets have this a great outing, to celebrate Austin's Tree, the Holiday Season, and more.
As before, the parking must be purchased in advance... I would suggest folks work out "carpooling"...
