Unplugged With Walt Wilkins

We're ecstatic to host Walt Wilkins as our February artist for our third Thursday concert series, Unplugged on The Front Porch. A force in both Austin and Nashville as a musician and songwriter, Wilkins has become a staple in Austin's music scene since his return to Texas at the end of the last decade, playing packed houses all over town with a rotating lineup of friends/musicians. Whether he's jamming with his country/rock powerhouse, The Mystiqueros, generating astoundingly beautiful vocal harmonies with country legend Kevin Welch, or picking along with his wife, Tina Mitchell Wilkins, in their duo act, Walt meets packed rooms wherever he picks up his guitar, and we're so excited to host one of Austin's most dynamic musicians at our intentional listening experience this February 19th. Providing regular opportunities for Austin folks to engage with exceptional musicians in an acoustically exquisite venue-- the sanctuary at All Saints' Episcopal Church-- Unplugged on The Front Porch invites all devoted listeners to gather in one spot on a monthly basis to venerate our city's most beloved musical souls. In just two short hours, our listening experience reaches into the hearts and minds of these musicians as we explore with them not only their art but also their life's experiences in our intimate gathering characterized by both music and conversation. Each edition of Unplugged on The Front Porch features an hour an a half of music divided into two sets, a fifteen minute interview with the artist, and a fifteen minute intermission. Every concert is taped, and we ask for a donation of $10-$20 at the door that goes directly toward paying our crew and our artists the living wages they deserve. Unplugged on The Front Porch is generated and sustained by two local nonprofits-- The Live Music Capital Foundation and The Front Porch-- who decided to look for ways to make listening in our community more intentional.
