Up For Debate says
Austin's home for comedy debates returns to the open forum of The New Movement theater, the Central Texas Parthenon of absurd arguments and accusations.

This month's guests dig in their heels on the defining pop culture debate of our time: Sports vs Comic Books. One is the domain of the new cultural elite. Comic books are required reading for anyone who considers themselves cultured by today's standards. Movie stars demand to be given super hero roles in the next Marvel or DC blockbuster, and not a boring one like Hawkeye or Nightwing.

The sports "nerd' is the newcomer on the scene, the awkward teenager bit by a radioactive twitter feed, now possessing the uncanny abilities to apply his or her powers of math to the world of analytics. Football has given way to Fantasy Football. Basketball players are now required to wear thick rimmed glasses. Hockey is less popular than Dungeons and Dragons, but with more Ogres.

Deciding once and for all which nerds reign supreme are this month's panelists:

Representing Team Comic Book:
Pat Dean
Micheal Foulk

Taking the side of Team Sports:
Brendan K. O'Grady
Carina Magyar

Presided over by the "honorable" Dr. Joe Faina
