Time Out says

Alamo Drafthouse is known around the state for its unique and tasteful movie, food and beverage experience. A staple of Austin culture, we are excited to bring the creative mind behind the experience to campus for UTEWeek. Alamo Drafthouse CEO and Founder Tim League will be the Opening Keynote for UTEWeek 2015. Nick Spiller, the founder of UTEWeek and the Longhorn Entrepreneurship Agency, as well as the current UT Austin Student Ventures Coordinator, will conduct the interview. Tim and Nick will discuss the entrepreneurial journey behind Alamo Drafthouse followed by audience Q&A. What better way to promote Austin entrepreneurial community than to have this home-grown company's story shared where its roots were sewn! Tim League is a successful entrepreneur and entertainment icon. Join us before he scours SxSW for the next big film in a rare, candid, and laid back conversation with a man who embodies Austin’s culture. Tim graduated from Rice University in 1992 with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Art/Art History. After a two-year stint at Shell Oil in Bakersfield, California, Tim turned his back on the engineering profession and opened up his first movie theater. An unmitigated financial disaster, the Tejon theater closed in 1995, and he and his wife Karrie loaded a truck with 200 seats, a projector, screen and speakers and headed to Austin to Start the Alamo Drafthouse, where he remains as CEO today. https://uteweek2015-tim-league.eventbrite.com Find out more about the event and others through the week at UTEWeek.com
