There’s a subscription for pretty much everything these days – streaming services, gyms, meal kits, pet food, wine clubs and yes, even toilet paper. Soon, you could even sign up for Qantas’ airport lounge subscription model, with the proposed offering granting you access to Qantas Club and international Qantas Business Lounges for a reduced monthly fee.

This flightful news was revealed in an online survey distributed among the Qantas Research Panel and shared in an exclusive with Executive Traveller. Under the proposed ‘low-cost subscription’ model, new members would gain access to Qantas’ once-exclusive lounges for a 28-day period, with the subscription automatically renewed unless cancelled.

The pay-as-you-go model eliminates the need for travellers to splash out on Qantas’ current one, two or four-year membership packages, which currently range between $600 and $2,000, in addition to a one-off $99 joining fee.

So, what are the perks? Subscribers will unlock many of Qantas’ first-class lounge amenities, including complimentary snacks and drinks (bubbly, anyone?), showers, free Wi-Fi, dedicated workstations, newspapers and magazines, as well as some peace and privacy from the mayhem outside. However, unlike the top-tier Frequent Flyer members, they won’t be able to bring a plus one, access last-minute upgrades on flights within Australia or benefit from additional baggage allowance.

Need an excuse to book a flight? Here are the 25 most incredible places to visit in Australia.
