Chaos is coming! Tasmania’s iconic midwinter festival, Dark Mofo, is back this year – and it’s gonna be wilder than your wildest nightmares. The darkly debaucherous festival has just dropped its epic 2026 program, packed with all your favourite rituals, alongside art and music performances you won’t see anywhere else in Australia.
To help you digest it all, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about getting tickets to Dark Mofo. See you on the dark side!
Dark Mofo will take over Hobart from Thursday, June 11 to Monday, June 22.
This midwinter solstice festival takes place in Tasmania, with the bulk of the program happening in Hobart. Expect abandoned and hidden spaces to be transformed into a vibrant playground for immersive art installations and mysterious music performances – from deconsecrated churches and rooftops to basements, bars and even a 48,000-tonne ship. This year, Dark Mofo is also stretching its tentacles with events in Launceston and an undisclosed Tassie town.
Make a holiday out of it and check out the best places to stay and eat in Hobart right now.
Dark Mofo tickets go on sale to the general public at 12pm/noon AEDT on Wednesday, April 1 via the website.
Yes! Dark Mofo subscribers get first dibs on tickets, with a subscriber pre-sale starting at 10am AEDT on Wednesday, April 1. PS: It’s not too late to sign up as a subscriber here.
The program features a mix of free and ticketed events, with Dark Mofo dedicated to keeping much of its art program and its signature rituals accessible to all. For example, the Nude Solstice Swim is free but ticketed, while the Winter Feast offers a range of free and low-cost entry options.
