Update Friday, May 15: Australia's golden girl, Delta Goodrem, is officially through to the Eurovision 2026 grand final! The 'Eclipse' singer wowed the crowd during her semi-final performance in Vienna today. Australia is one of ten countries to have advanced to the final, alongside Bulgaria, Ukraine, Norway, Romania, Malta, Cyprus, Albania, Denmark and Czechia. You can stream the grand final in Australia on SBS this Sunday, May 17 from 5am AEST.

Set those alarms! The world's largest annual live music event is upon us, with Vienna set to host the 70th anniversary Eurovision Song Contest from May 12 to 16 (May 13 to 17 in Australia).

Since its debut in 1956, Eurovision has grown into the longest-running annual international televised music competition in history. This year, Australia’s very own Delta Goodrem joins a line-up of 35 talented global artists to perform her new hit, ‘Eclipse’. More than 166 million people from around the world are expected to tune in to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest – here’s how you can be one of them.

When is Eurovision 2026?

The 2026 Eurovision competition kicks off in Vienna on Tuesday, May 12 – which, for those of us in Australia, means an early start on Wednesday, May 13. Here are the official Aussie broadcast times:

  • First semi-final: Wednesday, May 13 at 5am AEST
  • Second semi-final: Friday, May 15 at 5am AEST (including Delta)
  • Grand final: Sunday, May 17 at 5am AEST

When to watch Delta at Eurovision?

Delta Goodrem performed in the second semi-final, broadcast live in Australia on Friday, May 15 from 5am AEST. She has now advanced to the final, which Aussies can stream this Sunday, May 17 from 5am AEST.

Why is Australia in Eurovision?

To compete in Eurovision, a country must be a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). After broadcasting the contest for more than 30 years, Australia’s SBS – an associate member of the EBU – successfully petitioned to join the competition.

While Jessica Mauboy made a guest appearance in 2014, Australia received its first official invitation to compete the following year. Now, our spot is negotiated on a year-to-year basis, with past entrants including Guy Sebastian (2015), Dami Im (2016), Kate Miller-Heidke (2019), Montaigne (2021), Electric Fields (2024) and Go-Jo (2025).

Where to watch Eurovision in Australia?

You can watch the live broadcast of Eurovision on SBS and SBS On Demand. For those who prefer a sleep-in, you can catch the primetime replays from May 15 to 17 at 7.30pm AEST.

Who won Eurovision 2025?

Last year, 24-year-old Austrian-Filipino artist JJ won the Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Wasted Love’. Australia’s entrant, Go-Jo (Marty Zambotto), did not qualify for the 2025 grand final.
