The year is wrapping up, and so is pretty much everything around us (and no, we're not just talking about Spotify). The real estate experts at Domain have released their own end-of-year wrap, revealing some intriguing and valuable insights – including which Aussie suburbs ranked among the most popular in 2025.

The annual report relied on the analysis of a year's worth of site views on Domain's website, zooming in on the highest views per residential listing for apartments and houses across the country. This data is significant because it reveals the type of areas gaining momentum and harnessing the most interest for prospective buyers. Unsurprisingly, most of the top suburbs across Australia's major cities were wealthy and prestigious areas that are less interest rate sensitive. Domain chief of research and economics, Dr Nicola Powell, says that most buyers for these areas are looking to upgrade to their next property, and are determined to find their new home in a distinct suburb, refusing to stop looking until they do.

There are also a lot of people who are perusing property for a bit of fun (but may not be able to make the jump IRL, just yet), a factor that Dr Powell says will inevitably drive views to listings in places that she calls “the crème de la crème of Australia’s real estate”. Property dreamers, we see you.

Every major city in Australia had a call out of the top ten suburbs that garnered the most interest from property seekers over the course of 2025. However, there were also clear winners that ranked up top.

Sydney

The Emerald City’s number one suburb in 2025 was Birchgrove, a small waterside suburb in Sydney’s inner west. With harbour views, a small-town feel and loads of heritage houses, this leafy suburb does it all. Proximity to ferries, amazing eateries and an overall reluctance from residents to sell make Birchgrove a suburb to watch.

Melbourne

For the second year in a row, Albert Park ranked as Melbourne's most-viewed suburb. With its excellent geographic standing (being just ten minutes from the city and close to the beach), its abundance of heritage-protected Victorian homes and its tightly-held market, Albert Park is a deeply desirable location for prospective buyers in Melbourne. As a result, competition is pretty fierce and demand is great for this inner-city suburb.

Brisbane

New Beith was Brisbane’s top pick in 2025. A bit of a shift from the usually top-ranking blue-chip neighbourhoods in the city centre, New Beith is a relatively fresh suburb in Greater Brisbane. It ranked first for its numerous offerings of acreage, new builds and ample space for young families who are seeking the classic Aussie dream of a piece of land that can fit a pool, big house and lots of activities.

Canberra

Ainslie, a leafy suburb in Canberra’s inner north, was the most viewed in 2025. Just three kilometres from the CBD, this little community is nestled at the foot of Mount Ainslie. Offering easy access to nature trails, packed with gardens (and the odd kangaroo), it hooked interest for its perfect blend of city and nature. With lots of heritage cottages and contemporary architecture, as well as heaps of quality cafés and restaurants, it makes sense that this was a winner.

Perth

Serpentine came first as Perth’s most viewed suburb in 2025. This pretty rural town hooked interest for its proximity to the famous Serpentine Falls and National Park. A rapidly growing township, Serpentine balances a beautiful, nature-focused lifestyle with new residential developments.

Adelaide

In 2025, median house prices in Adelaide rose to $1 million. Off the back of that, property-seekers set their sights on Woodside, a charming town just 35 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD. With pretty heritage streets and houses, quirky shops and galleries, and plenty of amazing food and wine, Woodside offers a great lifestyle at affordable prices

Hobart

West Hobart was Tasmania’s top-viewed suburb in 2025. The inner city area rose to first place for its mix of artistic quirk, heritage homes, leafy spaces and easy city access. With great views of the city, heaps of cycling and walking trails and a smattering of excellent cafés and cultural hotspots, West Hobart deserves its crown.

Darwin

The Top End’s top choice this year was Bees Creek. This rural town lies on Darwin city’s outskirts, and generated interest from prospective buyers for its plethora of wide open spaces, proximity to nature, large blocks and reasonable 33-kilometre distance from the CBD.
