From DJ decks to actual live dogs, here’s what Aussies managed to leave behind in an Uber this year

Anyone looking for their taxidermied mink? Well, your stuffed weasel-like mammal is currently living in lost property at Uber HQ. It’s just one of the many bizarre items Aussies have left in the back seat of a rideshare over the past year – and honestly, we have so many questions.
For almost a decade, Uber’s annual Lost & Found Index has revealed the weirdest and most wonderful things riders accidentally abandoned. It’s no surprise that essentials like phones, cameras, backpacks, keys and wallets topped the list of most forgotten items – but a few distracted passengers left behind some absolute gold.
Among the most peculiar treasures forgotten were a taxidermied mink, two living pugs (poor dawgs), a Looney Tunes snow globe, a framed photo of Bluey, a quokka plushie and three kilograms of goat meat. Clearly, we love our animals, whether they’re sleeping, stuffed or destined for the barbecue.
Despite their mammoth size, passengers forgot to take a French horn, golf clubs, a microwave and home-brewing equipment. On the more stressful end of the spectrum, drivers also recovered a birth certificate, a license plate, lab samples and even a Rolex watch. Major kudos to that driver for handing that one back!
The index revealed Saturday is the most forgetful day of the week in Australia, particularly around 11am, 11pm and 6am. Aussies also completely lost their minds over the Anzac Day long weekend, with April 25 and 26 ranking as the second and third most forgetful dates of the entire year.
So whether you're currently missing your drone, DJ decks or the four cinnamon scrolls you were saving for dessert, don’t panic. You can easily track down your belongings via the “Find lost item” button in the help section of the Uber app.
