Buckle up, Aussies – Uber has just revealed its annual rider ratings for 2025, and the results are either smooth cruising or a bumpy ride for your hometown.
For the third year running, Western Australia has claimed the unfortunate title of the country’s worst Uber passengers. With an average Uber rating of 4.78 – a few points below the national average of 4.82 – it’s a rough ride for anyone repping the west. Perth also kept its streak alive as the lowest-rated major metro, but hey, at least they’re consistent.
On the flip side, the Northern Territory has dethroned New South Wales to become Australia’s best Uber riders. Territorians averaged a shiny 4.86 stars, edging out Tassie at 4.85 and NSW at 4.84. Queensland and the ACT also cruised above the national average, while South Australia slipped below Victoria to become the second-lowest rated state. SA's average rating dropped 0.04 since 2024, which might not seem like a big deal, but is the largest dip out of any state.
For anyone sweating over their own rating, Uber has made it easy to check. Tap ‘Account’ in the app, and your stars will appear in the top left. You can even head into the Privacy Centre to see how many flawless five-star trips you’ve scored and where you may have slipped into Scrooge territory.
And if you’re sitting on a shaky 4.7-something and feeling personally attacked, don’t panic – the rating is calculated from your last 500 trips, so there’s plenty of time to turn things around before 2026.
