Did you know that Fàbrica Moritz is Barcelona’s first beer, brewed in the city since 1856? Today, the old Moritz factory, located in the very heart of the city, has been transformed into one of the city’s most vibrant and unique gastronomic destinations — a place where fresh craft beer, Catalan and Alsatian cuisine, and cutting-edge architecture come together under one roof.
Inside this iconic building, completely renovated by award-winning architect Jean Nouvel, visitors can enjoy a dynamic space that combines tradition with innovation. The brewery area, home to the longest bar in the city, offers unpasteurised beer served directly from the barrel — the tap is connected straight to the in-house microbrewery, where beer is brewed daily. You can often see the brewmaster at work, a rare experience in an urban setting.
The menu, curated by Michelin-starred chef Jordi Vilà, focuses on a creative fusion of Catalan and Alsatian flavours, offering a wide variety of small plates and tapas that reinterpret classic dishes with contemporary flair. Each dish is designed to complement the beer brewed on site.
Beyond food and drink, Fàbrica Moritz is a space to explore and enjoy at any time of day — it opens from 12 pm to 1 am, so you can experience it from vermouth hour through to late-night gatherings. From the plant-lined walls to the clever periscope-style windows, the architectural details invite you to stroll through the space and discover its many layers.
