From August 8 to 24, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the Pati de las Dones at the CCCB hosts a new edition of their annual open-air cinema series called Gandules. This year the film cycle bears the title 'Rebels i Perilloses' ('The Rebellious and the Dangerous') and pays tribute to the rebellious and dangerous women of cinema through nine movies that break stereotypes and don't follow conventions, with femme fatales, everyday rebels, imperfect mothers or violent women as the stars in this programme that includes films that span eras, genres and nations. The series starts with a session dedicated to Mae West, one of the first female icons in the history of cinema, in 'I'm No Angel', where she plays a lion tamer named Tira, a powerful, fascinating, cheeky, intelligent woman who seduces everyone around her. West doesn't only star in the film, but she also cowrote the screenplay and had a hand in directorial decisions.
