The Filmoteca celebrates the films of Jonathan Demme, who passed away in April, this time with 'Philadelphia', which stars Tom Hanks as Andrew Beckett, a young and promising lawyer in the city of Philadelphia, who is fired from the prestigious firm where he works when his bosses learn he's contracted Aids. He then decides to sue the firm for wrongful termination, but he has a lot of trouble finding a lawyer to defend his case. Also starring Denzel Washington and Antonio Banderas. Hanks won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role. Bruce Springsteen won an Oscar as well, for Best Original Song.
