Sandro and Alon lived for 14 years in Los Angeles and were married there. Canadian Sandro work for Disney. Alon, born in Israel, was a Microsoft employee. In 2010, Sandro's visa expired, and since the United States does not recognize their marriage at the federal level (it was legal only in California), the couple was forced to close a nationally recognised business and leave the country; they finally settled in Barcelona. '(In)Voluntary Departure' follows their last days in California while they pack up their lives in cardboard boxes and receive support from friends and former colleagues. The stars of the film and the director will be in attendance.
