Time Out says

One of Catalonia's most beautiful castles, with a rich history of royal connections. It was originally built on a roman "Domus" in the 11th century and was used as a fortification for pirate attacks. It reached its fullest form in the 14th century under the ownership of Ferrer de Canet who was not only a noble knight and advisor to King Alfonso V, but also ambassador to the Pope. He received permission for the construction of the Castles two biggest towers. Ownership would pass hands a few times after the 16th century and in the 19th century, the rooms in the castle were renovated by famous modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. He added some incredible stained glass, carved wood ceilings, marble floors, sculptures and more. It is a unique and beautiful mixture of medieval, gothic, and modernist architecture. The castle is located just outside of Canet de Mar, 45 minutes north of Barcelona. The best way to experience the castle is with a tour. Tours are offered every Saturday and every third Sunday of each month and tickets are €12 for adults, €6 for children ages 11-15, and free for children 10 and under.
