La Mercè 2016: Nakany Kanté + Baaba Maal

There's a new stage for concerts this year during the Mercè festival at the Fabra i Coats art factory. The live music starts on Friday with emerging acts from the Taller de Músics music school, followed by Nakany Kanté (10.30pm), born in Conakry, Guinea, but an adopted daugther of Sabadell touched by the Mandinka musical culture from the Mali border that mixes African tradition with pop and rock. Closing the night is Senegalese artist Baaba Maal (12.30am), one of the most respected and original voices on the African continent, with his latest album, 'The Traveller'.
