MET OPERA: Roberto Devereux

As opposed to other seasons, this year there's only one title under the bel canto category in the opera season of performances from New York's Metropolitan Opera House that are broadcast in cinemas around the world. It's a work by Gaetano Donizetti, with a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, inspired by the life of Queen Elizabeth I of England.
