Among the most astonishing and lively musicians of the new generation, the trumpeter and composer Pol Omedes is one of the most stimulating newcomers on the Catalan scene. With his album La ganadora, he showed credentials which immediately associated him with the mould-breaking of Ornette Coleman and the tradition of “Bix” Beiderbecke. Now, with the album Mallorca, he faces the challenge of presenting new tunes with the addition of a string quartet to his quintet, as historic names like Charlie Parker or Phil Woods also did in their day. A truly important event.
