Dido reloaded / Go, Aeneas, Go!

Opera returns to the Teatre Lliure with the production that stopped off in Barcelona a few months back before doing a tour of various other cities. It is a re-telling of Henry Purcell's Barroque-era 'Dido and Aeneas' conceived by six of today's leading Catalan creatives: composers Xavier Bonfill, Raquel García-Tomás, Joan Magrané and Octavi Rumbau; playwright  Cristina Cordero; and set designer Jordi Pérez Solé. Staged by Opera de Butxaca i Nova Creació, the main parts are taken by Anna Alàs, Maria Hinojosa and Joan Ribalta. Just two musicians accompany the singers: clarinetist Víctor de la Rosa and cellist Célia Torres.
