What’s the vibe?
Nuara is the most ambitious project yet from family-run restaurant group Familia Nuri. Located on the Balcó Gastronòmic at Port Olímpic, Nuara – a name derived from the verb nuar, meaning ‘to tie knots’ – isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a full-blown declaration of large-scale gastronomic intent.
Why is it worth visiting?
Here you’ll find the most premium products from Familia Nuri, especially fresh fish and seafood from the Barcelona fish market, displayed for diners before heading to the open kitchen or wood-fired grill. ‘We do what we want to do, no frills – just the best seasonal ingredients,’ says the family-run group. Heading up the kitchen are house chefs Àlex Jiménez and David Noguera, with consulting by the acclaimed Ismael Alonso (Celler de Can Roca).
What should I order?
The menu here is filled with delicate vegetable starters – like pickled leeks with ceps meunière, hazelnuts and microgreens – and top-tier fried dishes, another house signature, as seen in the Andalusian-style squid with acevichada mayo. But there’s much more. Excellent rice dishes, made with the group’s trademark expertise: the dry rice with national lobster and the surf-and-turf version with grilled squid, Iberian pork belly and ceps are firmly in the premium grain league. And for those after something simpler, there’s always a good cut of meat or fresh fish cooked over wood fire.
Why we love it
Luxury today often means top-quality ingredients with minimal intervention – and that’s exactly what Nuara is about. It also belongs to the league of visually striking venues: a 200 m² dining room seating 100 guests, plus a spectacular terrace overlooking Port Olímpic, also with room for 100. A large space, yes – but warm and relaxed, never overwhelming.
