Heins Depoortere is a Belgian baker, but he doesn't necessarily make Belgian cakes. In his small workshop/store in Poble-sec, Depoortere's aim is to bring back the method of home cooking, through the recipes of grandmothers and mothers from all over the world, but using the techniques of a professional baker, of course, and using all natural ingredients. You get excellent value for your money with these delicious cakes that aren't overly sweet, such as a carrot cake covered in white chocolate, or one with banana and dark Belgian chocolate.
