In Barcelona there’s a shop that’s been a big fan of wines from Valencia for quite some time now – Vinacoteca in the Clot district. Aside from going cross-eyed from all the bottles on the shelves, in this shop you’ll find a special corner dedicated to wines from El Celler del Roure, a winery that has refocused on ‘mandó’, a very delicate variety from the south of Valencia that is used to make wines like Madurez, which is made from a combination of grapes: ‘mandón’, syrah, ‘monastrell’, cabernet sauvingon, ‘petit verdot’ and merlot. It’s gorgeous, sharp and singular.
