Dinner for One

Adapted by: Sue Flack and Caspar. Dir: Sue Flack. With: Sue Flack and Caspar.

This hilarious play based on the classic TV sketch is a comedy that depicts the lonely and unconventional life of a very rich widow (Sue Flack) on her birthday. Out of a mixture of loneliness and madness, Miss Sophie fills her dining room on her special day with imaginary guests around the table. It's up to her butler, James (Caspar), to make the dinner a success, and the poor man has to play all the characters Sophie dreams up while still serving them all. Performed in Spanglish, French, Italian and German gibberish by two native English actors.

This is a fantastic fun show. I didn't understand all of the dialog BUT I didn't have to. The astounding body language and character portrayals were so communicative it wasn't necessary to know Spanish, German, French or Italian. This is a must see for all tourists and theatre lovers. The play is simple to understand but the body movement and acting is superb. A delightful script and direction, it's hard to believe there are only two people on stage. It feels like a full cast of characters. A MUST see.
