Taylor Mac is probably the biggest phenomenon to come out of New York in the last decade. For this year’s Grec Festival, he’s performing the abbreviated version of his history of America based on music (the full version lasts 24 hours!). Mac's show, which focuses particularly on how communities are built on fighting together against oppression, destruction and marginalization, has become an award-winning hit. Yes, this is a deep reflection on the USA, but it also encompasses the current world as a whole, resulting in a brave, extravagant and stimulating combination of music, activism and entertainment, wrapped in dresses by designer Machine Dazzle. The audience plays an active role in the story, so you just might be as much of a star of the show as Taylor Mac himself.
