Poble Espanyol is once again transformed into a sort of Christmas theme park for kids of all ages. This year the festivities are divided into two sets of dates: from December 6 to 8 and from December 21 to 29, with plenty of things to do for children and adults.
Once inside Poble Espanyol, head to Plaça Mayor for a gastro Christmas fair with local products, wine tastings and pairings, a craft beer fair, vermouth and vinyl, local Christmas favourite 'escudella' soup to eat, a date with swing dancing and loads more. There will be live music, and if you want you can bring your roller skates from home for the roller disco!
There will be plenty for kids to do as well, including doing a sort of obstacle course, discovering the fascinating world of the Tió (a Christmastime log that poops treats), watching screenings of Christmas movies, admiring the living Nativity, or having photos of themselves taken atop a giant snowball. And together you can stroll along throughout the Poble Espanyol to discover magical areas like where the Wishing Tree is so you can hang your wishes for 2020 there, and kids getting ready to let go of their dummies can hang them from the special dummy tree and feel like big kids. The little ones can also visit Santa Claus's house and personally hand him their wish list, and they can do the same with the Three Kings before Kings' Day on January 6.
The big new thing this year is ‘Euphoria’, a show that mixes the disciplines of dance and circus, on during the second phase (Dec 21-29). The piece tells the story of a girl who grows up and becomes a woman, and is played by 15 girls between the ages of 9 and 16.
Get your tickets in advance online or at the ticket office. There are several family packs, and children under four years old get in for free.
