This is the fourth edition of the contemporary dance show in the Santa Mónica cloister in Barcelona's Arts Santa Mónica. The main objective of the show is for it to serve as a place that gives visibility, recognition and context to the creation of independent contemporary dance in Catalonia, offering a space for artists and artistic collectives to open their work to new experiences of exhibition and gain a broader and more diverse public using the space and the exhibition format. The festival also looks to bring contemporary dance and audiences closer together in a space that's not on the usual circuit of dance venues, and to create dialogues between artists and audience members sharing the creative process of each artist. In Situ is banking on its risky programming, with experimental works that look into new languages within the movement arts universe. The show combines performances and debates, along with activities that are open to the public – a format set up to make the show dynamic as well as to creat the necessary surroundings to generate discussion between artists and audiences.
