La Mercè 2017: Toc a plegar

On the final day of this year's La Mercè, the Gegants ('giants') of the City bring the festivities to a conclusion as they parade back to their usual home in the Palau de la Virreina (on La Rambla), passing through the streets of the Barri Gòtic as they go. If you head along to see them, at the entrance to the palace you'll see the towering figures dance a choreography that, although it's a recent creation, has become another tradition of the Barcelona festival: the Contradansa dels Gegants.
