La Mercè 2018: Human tower day

Local human tower building groups ('castellers') take center stage in the great Diada Castellera de la Mercè. Tower builders from every corner of Barcelona – Sants, Villa de Gracia, Sagrada Familia, Poble Sec, and Sarrià – come together to share their passion with festivalgoers and demonstrate that, although the proud Catalan tradition of castellers was born in southern Catalonia, some of its best practitioners today can be found in the capital city.
