Time Out says

Since the 1950s, the Barcelona Sardanista Groups Union has organized a competition to see which group can perform the traditional Catalan dance the most beautifully and in time with the accompanying music. The competitors aspire to win the Gegants de la Ciutat, miniature bronze replicas of these stars of the festival. But it's not enough to win just one year: they have to first win the Àliga de la Ciutat prize a total of three years, or two years in a row. As is customary, after the contest (1pm) there's a dance featuring the groups in the union with music by the Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona.
