Time Out says

Time Out Fest, the gastronomic festival by Time Out Barcelona, is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, we are organising the Catalunya Edition, where 12 chefs from the best restaurants across the region – from the Terres de l’Ebre to Girona and Lleida – will present an irresistible variety of dishes and desserts, showcasing Catalan produce and ingredients.

The event will take place at the Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm over the weekend of 24-25 May, with non-stop food service from 11am to 11pm. In addition to Catalonia’s finest chefs, there’ll be a packed programme of DJs, talks, family-friendly activities and more. Trust us: you don’t want to miss this.

What food will I find at Time Out fest this year?

There’s a hell of a lot on offer – 15 local haute cuisine dishes in total, cooked up by 15 brilliant chefs. We won’t list every single one (you haven’t got all day!) but here are a few of the dishes we’re most excited about.

Fresh pasta cannelloni with confit cod, tomato and muhammara, by Vicent Guimerà

Cheffed up by Vicent Guimerà, a Michelin-starred chef and head chef at L'Antic Molí. The cannelloni is topped with béchamel, which is topped with muhammara, a Syrian cream of pepper and garlic, ‘which is actually a slightly spicier romesco sauce,’ according to Guimerà.

Acorn-fed duck à la royale with pears, by Àlex Carrera

This incredible-looking dish is a concept by Michelin-starred chef Àlex Carrera, of l’Aliança d’Anglès. Apparently, it’s his idea of preparing a ‘quick tapa’. This haute cuisine bite blends local roots, refined technique, and the spirit of classic French cooking, with duck from Lluçanès prepared with the ingredients of a traditional royale: liver, foie gras, truffle, cognac, egg white, and minced duck meat.

Toasted paratha bread with spiced lamb and herb jus, with fennel seasoned with sumac and DOP Reus hazelnuts, by Aitor López

Aitor López, who holds a Michelin star at Citrus del Tancat, has taken one of his restaurant’s classic dishes and transformed it into a tapa – a paratha with roast lamb, fennel salad and hazelnuts.
