Time Out says

Best viewed by strolling along in it, riding on the number 2 tram or taking it in from the window of one of the five-star hotels lining it, the Pest embankment holds World Heritage status, and justifiably so. From here, the bridges and historic landmarks of Buda opposite form an unforgettable picture, occasionally interrupted by a passing cruise ship or that yellow city tram. On summer weekends, the embankment closes off to vehicular traffic, allowing pedestrians, cyclists and anyone after urban relaxation to transform the embankment into a haven of idle pursuit. Look out, too, for Roman remains at Március 15. tér, near Elizabeth Bridge, and the statue of the Little Princess by Vigadó tér, the port terminal for boat rides up the Danube to Szentendre and beyond.

Rakpart opening

5 out of 5 stars
This year, RAKPART, the traffic-free celebration of the Pest embankment, opens for its summer season on May 1 at the start of the bank-holiday weekend. Entertainment will be laid on for pedestrians, cyclists, badminton players, barbecuers, joggers, rollerbladers, dog walkers and anyone keen on relaxing and taking in the cityscape by the river. Until mid-September, the waterfront will be free of motorists every weekend and, for 2026, the lower embankment will also be closed to four wheels on weekday evenings.
