Tucked in a quiet corner of Kispest, the Wekerle Estate is a living example of a planned residential neighbourhood, featuring the early 20th-century architecture of Károly Kós, with Art Nouveau and Transylvanian touches, streets radiating from a central square. Originally, nearly 5,000 apartments filled some 1,000 buildings. While these figures have altered in the passage of time, the Wekerle Estate is still festooned with plentiful greenery and feels pleasurably spacious to wander around as you take in the attractive façades. To learn more, Hungarian speakers can take advantage of a series of guided walks organised by the Wekerle Community Association.
