The event creator says
The Broadway musical is as much a part of the American tradition as baseball and apple pie—and a worthy focus for the Dallas Institute’s annual Spring celebration.

Spotlighting the great composers and lyricists of the “Broadway Era” such as Porter, Sondheim, Rodgers and Hart, and Gershwin, in a cabaret-style performance we’ll bring together a group of talented performers from Dallas and intersperse some of the Institute’s trademark nuggets about how and why the Broadway musical is an original and enduring part of America’s character.

Performers include music director David Haskins on the piano, Jackie Lengfelder, soprano, Marlene Bigley, mezzo, David Griffin, baritone, Justin M Lott, tenor, Karen Fry Weisbrich, mezzo, and Brad Reid, tenor.

In addition to the old favorites, we’ll also hear how more recent composers have extended the tradition while breaking new ground. Join us for a Spring evening of food, fun, and great music.

Thursday, April 9th, 7-8:30 pm. Reception at 6:30 pm.
Admission: Members $15, Nonmembers $30, Member Teachers $5 For tickets, go to the Institutes webpage:
