Michelada Think Tank says
Michelada Think Tank presents a series of 4 alternative education workshops aimed at increasing the strength and viability of the Dallas Fort Worth artist community. Workshops are free and open to the public.

Please note that if you are not a person of color, having completed the Allyship Think Tank is mandatory for attendance.

SURVIVIN' AND THRIVIN' - What are professional practices that artists need in order to be successful? SURVIVIN' AND THRIVIN' offers an overview of how to present oneself through an effective artist statement, CV, and portfolio in order to apply to grant and exhibition opportunities. Please bring your artist statement/CV for feedback. We will be focused on preparing people to apply to the newly created Cultural Vitality Program.

AGAINST DISPLACEMENT - What is the role of artists in supporting or resisting processes of gentrification? Artists are often brought in to increase the value of neighborhoods, but find themselves pushed out of the neighborhoods once property values increase. AGAINST DISPLACEMENT asks artists to critically look at their own role in displacing low income communities of color and develop strategies in solidarity with their neighbors.

INDEPENDENT MODES OF PRODUCTION/CRITIQUE - What is needed for an art scene to thrive beyond established arts institutions, which are often inaccessible to emerging artists? INDEPENDENT MODES OF PRODUCTION/CRITIQUE looks at ways in which Dallas artists can support alternative art spaces and alternative arts writing, and posits that the existence of accessible alternatives to institutionally-goverened spaces/discourse are essential to an active art community.
