Plano City Council Trans Empowerment Show Up!

Trans folks should show up for the Plano City Council meeting on February 9 to BE VISIBLE and speak if you would like about the problematic "nondiscrimination" ordinance. For now, we'll say WEAR PURPLE! If you have a purple tee or something you don't mind lending to those without purple, please bring it! Please note that this will not be an easy meeting. There will be very hateful right-wing religious folks there saying some very hurtful things, and there will be policy supporters there most likely angry because we won't support the policy. If you would like to speak, try to show up about 30 minutes early, so about 6:30. I believe the way it works is that you sign in to speak when you get there. I feel our position should be that the City of Plano should rescind the policy because it is transphobic and eliminates coverage for students and nonprofits (unless they have a city contract), then include the trans community in drafting a new ordinance that actually is inclusive.
