Delhi events in June

Delhi in June is an endurance sport. So yeah, bust out the sunscreen, slap on your sunglasses, and make your plans

Advertising

Delhi in June is an endurance sport. The mercury has already kissed 45 degrees, and there's no relief in sight until the rains decide to show up. Has the city slowed down? Kind of. No major gigs this month, barely any outdoor festivals, and certainly no park-coded events or picnics.

That doesn’t necessarily mean June’s dull. Sure, you’ve got to shift everything back indoors and time it closer to dusk, but I see it as a chance to check out the quieter stuff the city has to offer in a month where loads of folks pack up and leave for Europe or the hills. Art, comedy, underground listening events. And this month, there are plenty of those.

Take the comedy scene: an impressive lineup of comics is descending on Delhi this month: Biswa Kalyan Rath, Manik Mahana, Gursimran Khamba, Raghuram. Also – theatre!

So yeah, bust out the sunscreen, slap on your sunglasses, and make your plans. Here are some event picks worth stepping out into the heat for.

What's happening in June

Faces and Facets: Satyajit Ray in Colour | Exhibition

Up on the second floor at DAG, this exhibition brings colour to the deliciously monochrome mood that we know from Satyajit Ray’s films. Captured by celebrated photographer Nemai Ghosh, these vivid coloured photographs offer a rare glimpse into the life of one of India’s greatest artists, directors and music composers. Expect handwritten letters, annotated scripts, markings on old-school Kodak film reels, and striking behind-the-scenes imagery straight from Ray’s sets.

When: On until July 4. Open Mon-Sat, 11am-7pm.
Where: DAG, 22A Windsor Place, Janpath, New Delhi
Entry: Free

Inventions by Biswa Kalyan Rath

The IIT nerd-turned-comic is paying a visit to the city with his latest set. Rath was pushed into the limelight after his YouTube series ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’ with fellow comic Kanan Gill. After that, his past science-y, logic-first sets pretty much did the job for him. He’s now widely loved for a deliciously snarky tone in his comedy.

When: June 6, 4pm
Where: Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium, Ajmeri gate
Tickets: ₹1,000

Queer-rated Comedy Show | Depot 48

A comedy show at a bar on a summer night is already perfect in theory, and the fact that it’s queer-themed feels like one of Pride month’s more sincere gifts to Delhi. Brought to you by the Queer Rated Comedy Club, the evening show has five comics on the lineup: Prateek, Ladyfinger, Teya, Shruti and Rahul Pal. Their queer-themed comedy can swing anywhere between outrageous, hilarious, and rolling-on-the-floor funny. Community and fun are exactly what the bar was founded for by sound engineer Girjashanker Vohra and restaurateur Vikas Narula.

When: June 4, 8pm onwards
Where: Depot48, M Block, Greater Kailash 2
Tickets: ₹350 for one, ₹550 for two.

Lemons and Peaches | Gursimran Khamba’s stand-up

We all know him from AIB fame. But the timeline went a little blurry after that. So this hilarious set traces Khamb’s entire life – from his daring times in college to marriage. Expect a shamelessly honest, razor-sharp, full-hour comedy special. He’s also duly informed his beloved audience that this show won’t be put up on the internet.

Where: The Laugh Store, DLF, Cyberhub, Gurgaon
Tickets: ₹600

Practice | Manik Mahna’s stand-up

After multiple houseful shows and a queue of audience still snaking outside, Mahna is back on stage with one of his most popular sets. Expect anything but dull takes on everyday life, because Mahna is as politically aware as he is laugh-out-loud funny. The comic may be shy about the whole ‘live performance’ business, but think of him as the underdog quietly championed by comedy A-listers. His calling card? A dry, almost offensively blunt but undeniably hilarious style of comedy that’s exactly why he’s so widely loved.

When: June 7, 4pm
Where: The Laugh Casa, Mcube Monad Mall, Noida
Tickets: ₹800

Kaumudi | Kumud Mishra

Written by Abhishek Majumdar (the mind behind some of the most politically charged plays of our time), the play has a spine of its own. Translating to ‘moonlight’, Kaumudi unfolds in 1960s Allahabad, following a father-son duo sharing the same roof. One of them just so happens to be a ghost. The cast is stacked with heavyweight performers too: Kumud Mishra, Gopal Dutt, Sandeep Shikhar and Shubrajyoti Barat, all in formidable form.

When: June 5, 7pm
Where: Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House, Delhi
Tickets: ₹650

Leading the charge are comedy heavyweights Varun Thakur, Adar Malik and Kautuk Srivastava.

Ye Kaisi Democracy | Musical comedy

A musician-activist and a satirist walk into a symphonic comedy set, and the result is equal parts rage and laughter. Indian Ocean frontman Rahul Ram joins forces with actor-comic Sanjay Rajoura to riff on… everything. This will be done with sharp political satire, music and plenty of no-holds-barred commentary. Think of it as the sequel to their cult hit ‘Aisi Taisi Democracy’. Thin-skinned audiences – consider yourselves warned.

 Umrao Jaan | Hindi theatre

Adapted from Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s classic Urdu novel Umrao Jaan Ada, this stage adaptation revisits the tragic arc of Amiran, kidnapped as a child and sold into a Lucknow brothel. Set in a world stitched together with poetry, patronage, and heartbreak, the story tracks her transformation into Umrao Jaan, a courtesan-poet icon, alongside her doomed romance with Nawab Sultan. Directed by Varun R Sharma, this full-bodied production leans into the emotional and social realities of courtesans.

Toxic | Abhishek Upmanyu’s stand-up

Abhishek’s observational comedy is among India’s most widely loved, thanks in part to a delivery so disarmingly simple it almost reads as bland… until, of course, the punch lands. What’s remarkable is how he keeps returning to these familiar territories, each time with a fresh, unexpected angle.

Rahgir | Music performance

Known for his minimalist approach, Rahgir blends traditional melodies with sharp contemporary commentary. It’s precisely this mix that draws in large crowds to his concerts. Chances are, you’ve already stumbled across his work: Aadmi Chutiya Hai, Kachha Ghada and Mere Gaon Aaoge.

Monster | Gurleen Pannu’s stand-up

‘There's a monster inside all of us,’ Gurleen Pannu implies, in the friendliest possible way. The Chandigarh-based comic brings her 2026 tour to Delhi with a fresh hour drawn from family pressure, gendered social expectations, dating, and the general chaos of becoming an adult. Hot-off-the-press material, delivered with the warmth of someone who has clearly lived all of it.

When: June 19, 7pm
Where: The Laugh Store, DLF, Cyberhub, Gurgaon

Rambo Circus

Fit for families of all sizes, the award-winning Rambo Circus returns on popular demand. It's a welcome throwback in a city where circus culture has all but disappeared into memory. The 90-minute spectacle packs in sky walking, a laser show, duo acts, and playful routines featuring slinkies, ball juggling and gravity-defying balance work. The real scene-stealers, though, are the giraffe cycle and unicycling.

Where: NCUI Auditorium
Tickets: ₹400 onwards

The band went viral after millions of views on songs like Sufiyana Shaam and Travel Medley, following its inception in the mid-2010s. This show is part of their next chapter: Kaarwan, and will feel close to riding a shotgun bike on a road trip. Each track represents a stop along the way, inspired by travel and self-discovery.
