This is where science drops the lab coat to mingle with everyday life in Delhi. Plonked next to Pragati Maidan and Bharat Mandapam, the National Science Centre is the city's geek gateway. Six galleries within the complex are packed with science demonstrations and live experiments – stuff you can touch, try and tinker with. You'll get exhausted just thinking about the range of themes the centre covers: human biology, physics, chemistry, information technology, space, emerging innovations, and a bit of history. And NSC is in the process of building out even more!
Since its inception in 1992 by the National Council of Science Museums under the Ministry of Culture, the multi-floor space has been a popular destination for school tours, families, and geeks alike.
Why go to the National Science Centre?
The major crowd-pullers include the science show, the space fantasy ride, optical illusions, the mirror maze, and, of course, the newly built galleries on mining and mass media. The 3-D show, the well-stocked library, the cosy planetarium and the workshop space will keep you plenty busy. If you do find time, there's a cafeteria worth checking out.
Time Out tip: You'll be running to and fro inside the centre to catch various rides and shows. The ticket counter can help you work out a tailor-made schedule. If you'd rather not rush, arrive early, and keep note of the floor number for each show.
