Liquor shops are shut on October 9 and 10, and Railways has cancelled mail and express trains arriving at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin on October 10 morning.

If your Friday plans involved picking up a bottle or catching a train into town, you might want to rethink them. Indian Railways has ordered the cancellation of all Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4am and 2pm on October 10, citing the possibility of severe road traffic congestion around the two stations.
The order, issued by the railway department's coaching directorate on October 9, also means that trains leaving their originating stations after 2pm today and due at either station in that window will be cancelled.
The move comes amid the Cockroach Janta Party’s and Opposition parties’ protests against the Chief Election Commissioner. It also comes as more than 5,000 passengers were reportably unable to board their trains after roads to New Delhi Railway Station were blocked because of traffic restrictions in central Delhi on October 8, India Today reported.
What to do: If you're travelling to Delhi tomorrow morning, check your train status on the IRCTC app or NTES before heading to the station.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has declared two dry days, citing police inputs, ahead of the October 10 protest. Under an Excise Department order, retail liquor shops under specified licence categories can't sell liquor on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10. Licensed bars, restaurants and clubs will stay open. A night out is still on, but your home bar won't be getting restocked.
