When Town Hall opened in Khan Market in 2014, its sushi quickly earned a loyal following among Delhi diners. At the heart of it was the sushi counter showcasing impressive seafood, and, for many regulars, the Shokunin roll, the one you simply had to order. It was a rich roll of chopped chutoro (fatty tuna), topped with plump salmon roe, balanced with scallion, and finished with a sweet-savoury unagi glaze.
The beloved place recently shut shop. So when I heard I could now have the Shokunin delivered home through KURO, I was intrigued enough to take on the tough job of trying their whole menu.
KURO’s the latest venture by restaurateurs Randeep Bajaj and Navneet Randhawa Bajaj, the duo behind Town Hall. Drawing on more than a decade in the Japanese dining space, the couple has created a premium, delivery-first concept built to bring restaurant-quality Asian cuisine home. While it is sushi-led, it is by no means sushi-only. With dim sum, baos, robata, noodles, curries, wok dishes, and hearty mains on the menu, there’s something for everyone at the table.
Alongside 18 rolls (yes, we counted), there are nigiri, aburi, hand rolls, poke bowls, donburi, carpaccio, and tartare. The sushi offering remains serious, backed by select suppliers, high-grade fish arriving twice a week, and careful attention paid to everything from rice temperature and balance to knife work and handling. Vegetarians aren't an afterthought either, with options such as the Green Dragon, Arugula Truffle, Kale Maki, Shojin, and KURO Avocado & Asparagus.
Highlights from my tasting included the Shokunin roll, the Nama Chirashi Poke Bowl, prawn dim sum with XO sauce, and especially the slow-cooked spare ribs: tender, coated in a rich beer-reduction glaze, and finished with a pistachio crunch. The pork chashu bao was packed with flavour, though the filling felt a little scant against the bun. And then there was the Signature Tiramisu. I am something of a tiramisu perfectionist, and this one gets the crucial ratio of ladyfingers, mascarpone, and coffee impressively right.
Does everything taste exactly as it would served straight from the kitchen? Inevitably, no. Some dishes will always have that extra notch of freshness when eaten at the restaurant. But as a home-delivery proposition, KURO gets remarkably close.

Delivery coverage: Currently delivering across much of South and Central Delhi, offering its full menu from Greater Kailash Part 1 and a ‘KURO Select’ capsule menu from Geetanjali Enclave. Expansion to Gurgaon is planned towards the end of the year, with further Delhi NCR locations to follow.
