This week, we have The Felonius Smith Trio!

Felonius Smith Trio performs prewar blues music at its most authentic - taking us back to a time when original bluesmen were pioneering a new musical style. Favorites at Colorado’s Evergreen Jazz Festival, Brighton Blues Blast, and Blues Under The Bridge, the Felonius Smith Trio serves up historic-sounding acoustic Delta blues, Country blues, Piedmont and Folk Blues.

Drawing his inspiration from bottleneck artists like Tampa Red and Fred McDowell, Felonius Smith has been performing vintage National slide guitar blues in California and Colorado for over 25 years - sharing the stage with Koko Taylor, Richie Havens, and David Bromberg. The talented Steve Sheldon is expressive on the harmonica. He hails from Des Moines, Iowa, and his 20 years’ experience playing American roots music is reflected in his traditional sound. Steve has recorded with the legendary Taj Mahal and opened for John Hammond, Keb Mo, Anders Osborne, Sonny Landreth, and many others. Rounding out the trio is Scott Johnson, whose warm yet percussive approach to his upright bass provides the backbone of the group’s historic sound. When he doubles on sousaphone, it invokes the festive vibe of a New Orleans street band. In his over 25 years of performing in Colorado, Scott’s past groups include Chicago Skinny, The Homewreckers and The Honky Tonk Hangovers.
