Opening Receptions: "Parallel Universe Pictures Presents" And "Portals And Parallax" says
Helikon Gallery is pleased to host ‘Parallel Universe Pictures Presents...’ this July. ‘P.U.P.P.’ is a group exhibit where illustration reigns supreme over Hollywood — featuring powerful drawings and paintings of posters for movies that exist only in the cinematic imagination of the artists.

Co-curated and conceptualized by Thomas Haller Buchanan and Willa Haller, we’ve invited artists to allow their creative muse to open a window to a parallel universe where Hollywood is a timeless place, so the stars of the past and present can coexist in the same film, existing films are recast, and where new films are brought into existence through the artist’s eyes. These are film productions without limits, where artists are given full creative control in writing, directing, and casting.

The work in ‘P.U.P.P.’ varies from the serious to the satirical, the classic to the contemporary, the bizarre to the beautiful. Alongside the original works, artists will provide written statements that give insight into their concept and thoughts, process work such as studies and sketches, and prints of the final work.

Artist List: Thomas Haller Buchanan, Mike Kloepfer, Elena Gunderson, Matt Needle, Daniel Shaffer, Tom Sarmo, Rob Jordan, Brooke Vandevelder, Arna Miller, Vinni Alfonso, and Cayce Goldberg.

About PORTALS & PARALLAX: In the annex gallery, two artists view the same objective from different points of view and open connecting pathways across universes.

Portals & Parallax is a duo exhibit of new work by Thomas Haller Buchanan and Willa Haller. Shown simultaneously with ‘Parallel Universe Pictures Presents...,’ the work in this exhibit stands as a conceptual and narrative bridge between both shows, exploring an organically unfolding story of two artists seeking to pierce the veil of time and space. Thom works in charcoal and pastel, while Willa presents large watercolor paintings. Both artists contributed to collaborative works where their concepts and aesthetics overlap.

All receptions are free and open to the public, with drinks and refreshments.
