Rally To Protect Our Care And Colorado's Insurance Marketplace!

Colorado Consumer Health Initiative says
Colorado state legislators are trying to repeal Colorado's health insurance exchange, Connect for Health Colorado, through SB17-003 - Repeal Colorado Health Benefit Exchange. Connect for Health Colorado helped over 200,000 Coloradans get covered in 2016, and is seeing record numbers of people use the marketplace to enroll for 2017. These efforts to roll back the health insurance marketplace are coming amidst efforts at the national level to do the same. Repeal of our marketplace would mean Coloradans are left to the whims of Congress in their efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Colorado would have to pay to transfer to Healthcare.gov in the short term, and our state would lose support and tools developed specifically for Coloradans.

Join us on Tuesday, January 31st at 1:00pm as we rally against these state level efforts to undo Colorado's health insurance marketplace and the better access to coverage it has created. The committee hearing was moved to next week, and this change in scheduling is an effort to undermine this rally and stifle your voice and protest, and we will not let that happen. It’s all the more important to make our voices heard loud and clear to protect the health care of Coloradans! Whether at the state or federal level, we need to let our lawmakers know we support access to affordable health care and that repealing these opportunities harms Coloradans!

Connect for Health Colorado was created through bipartisan legislation and now helps Coloradans statewide shop for and choose a health insurance plan, often with financial assistance, and provides tools developed specifically for Coloradans to make their health insurance selection process easier. Repealing Colorado’s exchange and moving to the federal marketplace is a false choice given the uncertainty around the future of the ACA. This could leave consumers without a transparent marketplace to shop for health insurance.

Throwing our enrollment system into turmoil and removing a state-based health insurance solution makes no sense for Colorado consumers and small businesses and is irresponsible.

If ACA is repealed:
600,000 Coloradans will lose coverage
24% of those would be Hispanic
4% would be African American
The vast majority are hard-working CO families

If the ACA has helped you personally or someone you know, please contact Zach Stone at zstone@cohealthinitiative.org / 303-839-1261 or share your story through our online survey.
