The Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meetup says

We are heading back to Globe Hall on Wednesday June 8th for this Meetup. The theme is "Volca Madness" and there will be presentations on the Korg Volca series mini synths. These synths might be mini but they are power packed, battery powered, support MIDI - and at only $159 are quite affordable as far as hardware synths go. The series includes Volca Beats, Volca Bass, Volca Keys, Volca Sample, and the soon to be released Volca FM.

There will be presentations offering an overview of each of the currently released models as well as how to sync them. Chris Frain will also be our performer of the night doing set with a number of Volcas.

If you have a Volca, bring it so after the presentations we'll have more for people to checkout. EVERYBODY bring headphones with 3.5mm stereo mini jack.

Chris Frain currently lives in Boulder, CO. Idiosyncratic to a fault, his music sits in the uncomfortable gaps between ProgRock, Krautrock, Radiophonic, IDM, and ambient subgenres of Electronica, with a bit of early '80s New Wave thrown in occasionally for good measure.

Lastly, if you have any hardware you want to sell/trade - bring it along. If you want to buy some used gear from members bring some cash and/or a checkbook.

The 480+ member strong Rocky Mountain Synthesizer Meetup has been connecting and inspiring synthesizer geeks for almost 4 years. Hosted by synth veteran Mark Mosher this meetup is a social gathering where members have the opportunity to share their passion for synths, network, learn, get hands on time with gear, tell people about projects and find collaborators, discover new music and techniques for making music and sound, and find like-minded synth geeks. It's also a great place to find out about what's going on in the music and sound arts community.

It's really an eating/drinking club with a synthesizer problem. So if you are a synth, sampler, sound design enthusiast, educator, modular fanatic, soft-synth fanatic or generally interested in electronic and experimental music you'll feel right at home. All levels welcome.

The meetup takes place at the wonderful new music venue and Texas-style barbecue joint, Globe Hall.
