Segments: Unique Lines says
For the month of June (starting second Saturday June 11th), 1of1 Magazine is presenting a group exhibition called “Segments: Unique Lines” at Crimson Hilt Tattoo and Gallery.

While a line goes on forever in either direction, a line segment has a beginning and end. It tells a story from point A to point B, making infinity a little easier to bear. Having finite lives with finite means, though, doesn’t relegate us to finite dreams. On the contrary, the variation one can conjure within defined parameters can be effectively infinite, and so we’re always in touch with forever. Artists especially.

While color, space, and texture (and myriad other elements) help define an artist’s composition, line work is arguably the most basic and effective. If the art produced tells a story, then an artist’s line work is his/her handwriting, and maybe that says more than any artistic contrivance. Good line work can reveal an artist’s personality, history, likes and dislikes, even philosophies.

Denver Comic Con runs at around the same time, so we hope “Segments” can be a prequel of sorts and perhaps focus more attention on the craft itself.
