Bloody Mary Club: making Sundays slightly less of a horrifying ordeal

Ever feel like the weekend ends far too abruptly? With Saturday night officially over at 3am, Sunday can often be a long, hungover slog with very little redeem it, especially with the new working week looming ahead. Thankfully, the folks over at Cabaret Voltaire are easing the transition from Saturday to Monday with the brand new Bloody Mary Club.

Bloody Mary Club combines some of the clubbier elements of the weekend - including live DJs playing house, disco and soul music - with a more easy-going afternoon cafe vibe, offering two-for-one pizzas and - you guessed it - Bloody Maries. (Or Marys? We're going with Maries.) In addition to the Classic Mary (yours for just £4), you can sample a variety of new twists on the beverage, created in-house by the Cab Vol bar staff. There's the Tequila Hangover edition, complete with avocado and lemon; the Dirty Mary, a briny double-vodka doozy incorporating mustard and a beer float; the Ginger Mary Southern Belle, a spicy barbecue number with red pepper, chilli powder and Jack Daniels; and, our favourite, the Thug Life of Mary, which joins the glorious gin-based Bloody Mary revolution with a couple of green olives and a subtle sprinkling of seasonings.

Taking place every Sunday at 2pm (giving you plenty of time for a lie-in), Bloody Mary Club is the ideal place to let your weekend wind down instead of coming to a sudden stop. Oh, and you can totally pretend it's part of your five-a-day.
