Explore the hidden corners of The Lyceum

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, the Royal Lyceum Theatre is hosting a special production from the Lyceum Youth Company - and, just ahead of Halloween, it promises to be terrifying. ‘Hidden’ will be performed in the darkest and hidden corners of the building, and will include live music and various encounters as visitors are taken through different worlds in unexplored areas of the building. The one-off production has been devised by members of the Lyceum Youth Theatre company, with direction from Mark Thomson, Amanda Gaughan, Christie O'Carroll and John Glancy.

Mark Thomson, also the artistic director of The Lyceum, says the performance will have a ‘penny dreadful feel’, and it’s the first time a youth theatre production has run a full week at the venue.

John Glancy, producer of The Lyceum Youth Theatre, adds the performance will be a unique experience.

‘"Hidden" will be a once in a generation opportunity to walk in the same hallways as Edinburgh audiences did when the building was first opened in 1883,' he says. ‘This is much much more than a tour - it’s a theatrical event which will be thrilling and sometimes just a little bit chilling.'

‘Hidden’, October 20-24, Royal Lyceum Theatre.
