Go ape at Edinburgh Zoo with a very special showing of ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ on November 13 – screened in the zoo’s chimp enclosure.

The evening event will begin with a visit to see the chimps in the Budongo Trail before a short talk from ape behaviour expert Dr Catherine Hobaiter entitled ‘Planet of the Apes, Fact of Fiction?’ ahead of the screening, complete with free popcorn.

The 2014 film is set ten years after a worldwide pandemic that has decimated the human population, and follows a small group of humans struggling to survive while Caesar, leader of the apes, tries to keep his followers under control.

If you’ve ever thought a film about an Earth controlled by a group of genetically evolved apes just doesn’t have quite enough primate action, then this could be for you. Just hope there’s no ALZ-113 lying around!

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes', Friday November 13, 6.30-9.30pm, Edinburgh Zoo. Tickets £12 or £22 for two.
