Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

A centrally located yet undeniably intimate Edinburgh experience

Perched right by one of Edinburgh’s most famous shopping areas, George Street, this small-but-perfectly formed hotel is a nice mix of positive, almost new-agey vibes and decidedly non-new agey (but very welcome) mod cons. The grand Georgian facade contrasts nicely with the interior’s pastel hues, pale wooden floors and achingly tasteful furniture. The rooms themselves are compact (as is the whole place) but a lot of fun, with well-made everything. More than a New Town base of operations, Eden Locke (speficially its lovely lounge) is a lovely place to while away a few hours.

Neighbourhood
A 15-minute stroll from the Old Town, Eden Locke is pretty much perfectly located for a short break in the capital. The rightfully famous Scottish National Portrait Gallery is literally around the literal corner and there are convenient bus and trams stops everywhere you look.

Nearby
Dirty Dick’s Pub: Genuinely the vibiest and nicest boozer in the area. A total gem.
Scottish National Portrait Gallery: One of Britain’s best galleries both for its contents and beautiful architecture.
Little White Pig: A great spot for dinner, with a changeable menu relying on seasonal, local ingredients. Stiff drinks, too.

Time Out tip: Well worth getting a full breakfast next door at the delicious (but less hip) Tigerlily restaurant.
