Nira Caledonia is a relatively new, boutiquey New Town hotel and it launched Blackwood’s Bar & Grill in 2013 as its flagship dining room. With a keen interest in the provenance of Scottish ingredients, gentleman’s club décor and a Josper chargrill oven, Blackwood’s prospers as a carnivore’s delight with traditional steaks, water buffalo steak, lamb, venison, chicken and pheasant – although there are fish and vegetarian menu options too.
